Networking with the MIC

The purpose of the MIC will be to streamline Internet usage. The methods to access the Internet can vary for the mic. It will come with a built in radio to utilize the Internet.

The mic will also utilize bluetooth to manage it's accessories without wires. The component can also use wired accessories. The MIC will install drivers on the administrator PC that allow the MIC to access the Internet from the administrators network.

The network components of the MIC need to have their own firewall to prevent people hacking into it. The MIC will also create an ad hoc network that allows for easy transfer between the guest and administrator PC. The main idea about the MIC will be making accessing these functions easy for the users.

The seriousness of Internet privacy cannot be underestimated. A few weeks ago I read a story about a child that was kidnapped by a person he met over the Internet. Although there is no way to completely prevent such things from happening the MIC can help.

Saved sessions on the hard drive will let parents know what their children have been viewing. The MIC will come with account options that allow the administrator PC to monitor plenty of the options. The MIC could boot to a screen that informs the user about posting private information on the Internet. With the main idea behind the MIC being streamlined basic PC operations it would be wise to warn the consumer about the dangers of the Internet.

The MIC cannot do to much to protect the virtual privacy of the user. Yet, as a parent I think it would be important to let everyone know just how much privacy they have in the virtual world. People should also petition for more protection in the virtual realm. The issue becomes how much limitations do we want placed on the free world of the Internet.

Document Editors

Document programs like excel and word have become just as synonymous with computers as the web browser. You can find many people who do not know how to download and install a program but can create a word document. These type of users are basic function exploiters. These are the users that will benefit the most from the multi-input component.

The multi-input component will have very little processing power. This is because the component is only piggy backing off of the power of the main computer. Since it has so little power it will need to be streamlined to prevent the most frustration and increase satisfaction. The component will utilize the most popular yet basic functions of a pc. Amongst having a web browser the other feature would be to have a version of microsoft office installed onto the rom of the MIC. If this occurs than the MIC can allow two people to edit multiple documents at the same time.

By adding these programs to the MIC many users will not need to buy another computer. Their can also be a version of the MIC that has links to alternate document editing web programs. These links would take the user to googledocs. The issue with that version of the MIC would be that the user would need the Internet to edit documents.

Operating Systems and Multi Inputs

There are tons of different reasons to use a particular operating system. Many people use Windows operating systems and Apple operating systems. An OS can be installed on many different types of computers. With the multi input component I would need it to run a striped down version of windows.

The multi input component will need an OS to archive data and communicate with the home computer. I have heard that an operating system like linux is good for memory sensitive systems but I would not be able to get linux to communicate with a windows PC. The multi input component would be created only for windows PCS. The component will essentially be a windows computer that uses all of its own memory to process video and piggyback into the memory functions of the administrator pc.

The multi input component is mainly about using one computer for light web surfing. The OS in the component does not need to be powerful it only has to manage the hardware in the component. The component will load the OS as soon as it receives power. A power button will be attached to the component that controls its use. Ideally the component should load the OS and be ready for use within 10 seconds after pressing the button. This time is based on the amount of time it takes for a television and a DVR to load up. The shutdown process needs to be longer probably up to 1 minute. This is because during the shutdown the OS will prepare for a faster start up. It will archive the data and check the start up folder of the component to make sure it is at optimal speed. If any data obstructs the speed the OS will archive it to a hypertext.doc file and allow the user to retrieve it on the next start up.

Computer Forensics and Multi Inputs

With multiple users on one computer the load on a system's ram will increase. The temporary memory for the guest component would be labeled for simple reference. In order to lower the strain on the cpu usage the user of the multiple input computer would not be able to write anything to the hard drive.This feature works as a protection block as well. In order to download a file to the computer the multi input component will send a link or request to the admin computer.

The MIC (multi input component) will come with a small amount of ram and rom to save necessary data. This will curb the strain on the main pc and increase the speed of the guest input. The rom of the MIC will record the data from any session on the guest pc. This record of the data will allow computer forensic scientist to gather data from the mic.

I would make it a necessity to record data from the mic for the purpose of archival. When the data is archived the MIC will allow the user to continue there session from a date in the past. This feature can be thought of as a system restore of just running programs. The feature will only restore the session to the last 5 web pages the user had been on when the session was closed. This feature will allow forensic scientist a better chance at easily retrieving data.

Multi Inputs and Security

Internet security has become a major problem for computer users. The addition of another input component would increase the danger of breached internet security. The multi input component can come with a few features to aid in the protection of the user.

With dual users on one computer the user has twice the chance of incurring breach in security. Teaching the user how to navigate the web and notice dangerous signs is an important factor for Internet users. The multi input component would come with a picture in picture feature to help curb less experience users from malicious sites. This feature will allow the user on the other end of the computer to see a dangerous site and deter the other user.

Another factor in security is the preservation of morals as well as data. The multi input component will prevent users from damaging both by locking up. This feature assumes that there will be a heiracrhy of the inputs. One user will be the administrator. The administrator will enable a feature to lock the second component when a harmful site is encountered. This can also include a sensitive file on the system. Whenever the guest user triggers the feature his/her's inputs will lock and enter sleep mode.

Components and Multi Inputs

Components are the abstract pieces that help to make up an entire computer. I noticed that when one purchases a computer the components are listed next to the model. The component expansion slots are of the most interest to me.

The multi input component can either be added on or built in. The procedure to add the component may be to difficult for the less computer savy. My target market would require the multi input to be pre-installed.The multi input component would also require a seperate set of input and output devices. Ideally it wil split the workload of the computer. In doing so it would save the user large amounts of money.

When the components are added the user will be able to use one computer with two different inputs. The most important factor is to streamline the multipule input feature. When it becomes easy to add multipule inputs people will just plug it in and enjoy.

1st Week Post

The ubiquity of the digital world is clear. In every aspect of our lives we have been affected by computers. I realized that the average consumer only exploits the basics of the technology. Few consumers scratch the surface of their processors or use their computers to its greatest ability. This is the reason for the popularity of the E-Machine brand of computers. Such companies realize the payout for stroking the consumers basic needs while saving money at the same time.

My invention seeks to bridge the gap between the average computer user's processor needs and their time. My invention assumes two things about a large portion of computer users. The first is that they have more than 1 person that acesses their computer. The second is that they use their computer for basic tasks such as web browsing, lisening to music, or watching video for the majority their time. What my invention does is add an additional keyboard, mouse, and desktop to a single motherboard. In doing this the user is allowed to use their computer symontaneously with another person.

The efficiancy must outwiegh the users powerloss for the invention to be successful. The muti-input computer can domesticate the computer much like the creation of the Graphical User Interface. This will make the computer doubley as effective in the household than before and effectivly eliminate the need for another computer in the house.
